In the desert of Dubai lies a very peculiar village. It often appears during the day but disappears at night .
When you mention Dubai, most people immediately think of a wealthy country with abundant oil reserves. Examples include the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, and the largest man-made island, Palm Jumeirah. The existence of these famous structures has made Dubai renowned.
However, Dubai is also a place with many deserts and interesting things. But even more interesting is that in the middle of the Dubai desert lies a village that scientists consider one of the most “mysterious” places in the world. That is the village of Al Madam .
The village appears during the day and disappears at night.
This village is unusual because it disappears at night but reappears during the day. It’s so strange that people have nicknamed it the “ghost town .” Why does this happen?

To unravel this mysterious event, scientists decided to investigate on-site. Initially, they received information that the village had once experienced an outbreak of an incurable disease, so no one dared approach it. There were even rumors that people had previously seen people wandering around the village, never to return. Therefore, locals were afraid to go near the village for fear of danger. As a result, the village became completely deserted, as it is today.
According to their observations, during the day, this village is completely indistinguishable from other villages. From the remaining traces, it can be seen that the villagers are indigenous people, living a self-sufficient life and possessing their own unique cultural characteristics. However, at night, a magical scene appears; the entire village seems to vanish into thin air, leaving no trace . When experts come to search, they only find golden sand. Surprisingly, during the day, the village reappears before everyone’s eyes as if it had never disappeared.

Later, scientists offered three explanations for the strange occurrences in this mysterious village.
3 answers
First, they suggested that the village might have been submerged by quicksand. According to scientists, sand in deserts is abundant and subsidence occurs frequently. However, this assertion was refuted because, during the daytime, the village appeared unaffected and not submerged by quicksand.

Secondly , some scientists explain that the village disappearing at night is due to an optical illusion . They argue that because Dubai is half desert and half ocean, this phenomenon occurs. In the desert, the air is hottest near the surface and cools down with altitude (due to the hot sand and cold sea), so when light is refracted downwards, it makes the village appear to disappear. However, others argue that the likelihood of such an illusion occurring frequently is very low. Therefore, this hypothesis is also difficult to accept.

Finally , after testing and analysis, scientists came up with the most plausible hypothesis. According to this hypothesis, the village was actually once inhabited by the Al Kutbii tribe . Due to overexploitation of resources, the environment was severely damaged, and gradually desert and sand encroached upon the village, forcing them to leave.

The third theory is that the village was buried under sand blown by the wind. (Photo: CNN)
The inhabitants moved away, leaving the houses empty. The sand dunes, constantly being blown and buried by the wind, disappeared at night. Only when morning came, with the wind continuing to blow, did the sand move to another location, and the village reappeared.
Although scientists have continuously put forward various hypotheses, no explanation has yet been accepted . The mystery of the village has led to rumors spreading to many people. Therefore, the village has gradually become a tourist destination attracting many who want to explore it. However, scientists still advise tourists that those intending to visit the village should go during the day, avoid going at night, and go alone to ensure their safety.
